Well, can Iran trust us? Iran has a lot at stake, what with near civil war in Iraq and a US-backed, heavily armed Israel close by. It all goes back to the US-supported 1954 coup of a democratically elected government in Iran--then the subsequent placing of the Shah to lead the country. Remember: the Shah was friendly with the US, but he wasn't elected. We all know how things went from there.
