ok. i left it sitting for about 2months tried to jump it, but my over excited butt accidentally crossed the negative and positive. i replaced the fuse on the starter solenoid and checked others and it wont hold a charge. did i burn up my alternator or could it be my battery? what other possible things could of happened? it will start with a jump but wont start after i turn it off. and i downed it not too long before that and broke the harness off the top of the starter solenoid. a new harness can be purchaed but i have to get the whole thing which is like 300 hundred bucks. what wires connect to the top of the solenoid in what order? any bodys help is greatly appreciated. and if not then if you got a quad ill trade you straight up. thanks.

-You probably fried the battery. Install a new one and test for an increase in voltage at the battery. Test with a volt meter when you rev the engine. No increase in volts, then do a complete charging system test.
-The starter solenoid heavy wires don't have an order. One to + battery and the other to starter motor. The small wires, if it doesn't work one way, reverse the wires. It's just an electro magnet. The 2 small wires create a magnetic field and pulls a metal bar, that connects the battery and starter motor cables.

It's probably your battery. I'd go to wal-mart and grab one, because it 's cheap. If the alternator is shot, wouldn't you see dimming in the headlight or guages flickering? It should do more than just charge the battery while the bike is running. You could also find a wiring diagram for your bike somewhere on the net to download. They're usually in the back of the maintenance manual. They're usually easy to find for bikes over 2 years old...
