It's time your mother wake up & face reality & quit living in her "perfect little world". GeezZ! You might consider a really great pair of glasses! some turn dark while you wear them! If you feel you can't tell her, now what are you going to do later? Sneak around? don't do it. Confide in an authoritive person at the school; as your mom will begin to wonder when you bring home the failing grades because you can't see what you are doing. You vision is a very important part of your health, as you only have one pair of eyes to last a lifetime. Mom's can be full of it at times, as I was afraid to bother my mother, also. We have our reasons to not want to get screamed at. We just don't want to feel the way they really do, I guess! I hope this helps, dear.

If they have those vision screenings at school they will say if you need glasses or not but you know that you need them so on the one this year thay should tell you that you need glasses so i think the like call your parents or you should just start getting onto that topic with like, start talking about you brother's glasses and than after talking about it for a few minutes than say "Mom (or Dad) i think i might need glasses" and they should be cool about it. they shouldn't suspect you to be perfect no one is perfect. i don't get why parents are like that (they think you should be so perfect when no one can ever be perfect) because my parents just never trust me (even though i am also going into 7th grade) they never trust me with anything.

Tell your teacher, and have the school tell her because it is affecting your schoolwork and your abiliity to learn. When I was in the fourth grade I badly needed glasses, too, but didn't realize it. When I got them I was amazed at everything since it was so clear. I had forgotten that you are actually supposed to be abe to see the chalkboard clearly (I guess I just don't notice things, or something). It's my guess that your teacher has already noticed it, so explain the situation to him or her, or your principal, and request them to keep you name out of it, to just keep it "official".

You may not be a good candidate for contacts, so keep this in mind. Most eye doctors prefer young people not to wear them since your eyes are still growing. Good luck!

Sorry to hear that, if you have OHIP you can go have your eyes checked for a small charge just so know how bad your eyes are. Did she get mad at your brother because of the cost of glasses? I know that you said that she expects you guys to be perfect but glasses is for your safety, what if you were walking along and tripped on something because you didn't see it or it was a blurred because of your poor vision. Hopefully she doesn't get mad at you because your brother has the same trouble. Good luck!!

Talk to your teacher, and ask her for advice. She might call your mom or call a meeting w/ her. When you do get glasses, don't get transitions, because they make it harder for your pupils to dilate naturally. The last thing you need is more eye problems! I feel bad that you had to go so long without glasses! The sooner you let your teacher know, the better. Best wishes!

Tell her before your grades suffer that would be worse. Besides your brother broke the Ice already, you should be fine. She would probably yell a lot more if you wait till your grades are bad.

You should tell your mom how she would feel if your grandmother would say that to her. She'll hear ya...if you don't tell her your gonna wait a little too long to tell her, and when you do, your eyesight will be worse because you didn't tell her soon enough. If your bro went through that, you can.too.
