why do fridges have a light but freezers dont?

because very low temperatures make a light bulb and socket a hazard

Some freezers do have a light they are just going to cost you more. A typical freezer costs about 300 bucks....A nice fridge can run around 1000 dollars. I guess manufacturers figure they can afford to throw in a light.

Good question. Oddly, I was wondering that a few days ago. I think it's because freezers are small and easy to see into. You usually have the kitchen light on and really don't need a light in the freezer.

Mine doesn't.... I don't spend as much time with the freezer door open as I do the fridge door... maybe that has something to do with it?

my guess (repeat guess) is that the freezer is far too cold for a light bulb to be useful. (Does the light come on? Will the bulb simply burst from temperature differences?)

cuz penguins live in the freezer and they are allergic to light

Mine does.... I guess because you have more things in fridges with small labels.
