Lindy357 is wrong. Not only are there no private beaches in San Diego, there are no private beaches in California. California state law mandates that all beach property is open to the public, and while some high mucky-mucks with very expensive homes on the beach have tried to get the law changed, it still stands. I'm not sure what they do about military installations like Camp Pendleton and North Island - perhaps there's an exception to the law for the military. But you can research it - there is otherwise no private beach front in California.

If you are looking for PRIVACY on a beach in the San Diego area there are many places to be found. I've read some of the answers referencing private military beaches. You can get on base w/ someone in the military and camp on the beach in Pendleton. You can also get on North Island in Coronado. There are plenty of nooks and crannies in the Bird Rock area that someone mentioned. You can also venture south on I-5 and get off on Dairy Mart Road and head west til you hit the ocean. You'll be the only person there.

Radical Geezer is correct. Only federal/military land is considered "private" because of security reasons of course. All beaches in California are public. Thank you CA Coastal Commission!

Darren, I used to live down the block from there and it is public beach, but you walk down private property to get to it. Doesn't make sense but that is the way it is.

Yes. But they are owned by hotels, or home owners. You would have to rent a home, or join the others at a hotel.
