I'm looking to buy a 19 inch monitor to get rid of my clunky 17 inch CRT. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I do like to play the occasional game (Rise of Nations), so I don't really need the cream of the crop.

I checked out some reviews and I've selected these. It seems to me that no matter which I pick, it'll be a great monitor. Maybe? However, if you have other recommendations, please let me know.

I use a Samsung 19" LCD monitor and I've done some pretty heavy gaming on it so based on personal experience I would recommend that one. My roommate just got that Dell 1907FP and that is also a very nice monitor. So overall, my recommendation would be one of those two.

Try Asus! They have much better specs in both contrast and candle power. Viewing angle is better and I've never seen one with a bad pixel which is common on cheaper monitors.

Viewsonic but, get the high resolution, high contrast model! Costs more, but, in three years, it will still be best! At least get one with contrast over 1000:1!

Based on actual usage of the Samsung, LG, and Acer (never heard of UltraSharp), go with the LG - it's got the nicest performance of all of them, and their customer service is excellent.
