I have killed and eaten deer, squirrel, duck, and moose but when I came back from the war I swore that I'd never kill anything again that was over 30 years ago and I haven't killed a thing!

I've never killed an animal myself, (well..other than fishing) but use to go deer hunting with my dad and I use to help him gut and skin. We also use to raise hogs, beef cattle, chickens and turkeys. I am fine with mom and pop farms...factory farms are a different story.
I have no problem with people hunting as long as they are going to eat what they kill AND use as much of the animal as they can. Canned hunts, trophy hunting and fur trapping is just wrong.
What bothers me, is that a few areas near me have an overpopulation of deer...new construction has taken over the woods and now the deer are in peoples lawns and people are complaining. But, they won't allow the hunters to hunt the deer to reduce the population, nor will they allow people to tranqulize the deer and relocate them. Instead...they are baiting and shooting the deer, and discarding the carcasses!(or they end up dead on the road) What a waste of life and of meat. At least the hunters (a true hunter) would use the meat to feed their families.

I hunt. I hunt deer quail and doves. I have hunting dogs for the quail and doves but yes I hunt for meat we make deer jerky and sausage and if its a good deer I mount the head. On the opening day of dove season we have a huge party cook all the doves we shot and eat them with some home-made potato chips and so the same with quail.

I couldn't do it. Don't know what that says about me really cos I do eat meat and I'm sure there's loads like me (who eat it but dont wanna see it). I was quite shocked when I saw Jamie Oliver killing a lamb on a prog last week, didn't like it at all. But all thing to him. He said well I cook in the restaurant 24/7 so should be prepared to do it. I looked away. To be honest if I saw him actually cut a throat (and I will look next time I think) involuntarily it would put me off - perhaps permanently.

I'm a vegetarian :D I'm also against hunting, so no. I've seen animals killed for fur and meat, grandpa was a trapper and all my uncles fish and hunt. Of course, four of my uncles are also ministers and I'm not into that either.

Yes i totally agree with you,i cant stand someone hunting just for fun.Now we hunt for rabbitt and squirrel and i fry them and they are really good, but a few times with the squirrels they were shot up to badly and we could not keep them for food, but not a total waste because our dogs would eat them.

yes i have raised and butchered, rabbits, ducks, chickens, goats. and have done the deer and squirrels too.
Along with the fishing we do quite often.
killing for sport I agree is wrong, but if you are going to use it for food, then go for it.

not an animal, I leave that to the experts, but fish many times. Nothing like catching and cooking within the hour, delicious
