I have no agenda in asking this question, Momo. What's yours?

Hey folks, I'm realizing that there's no way I could vote to pick a best answer on this question ... you're all heroes. I'm glad, though, that you spoke up and shared your experiences with us. If what they say about Karma is true, I am sure that you are blessed!

What is YOUR view of "Heroic"?

Well, back in '94 after the Northridge, California earthquake, my family and I started a food/clothes/money drive to help the victims. We ended up collecting somewhere in the neighborhood of $2000.00 and tons of clothes and food. We ended up packing plastic market bags with lots of food and then on a nice Sunday afternoon, all of us drove to Balboa Park in the Valley and spent the whole day with families that were affected. We handed out the bags of food, the clothes/diapers and approx. $20.00 to many heads of family. I got to play with lots of kids which in my mind helped to distract them so that they didn't see how their parents were suffering as they told my parents and older sisters of their experience that morning.

This was a very rewarding experience for me as I was 14 years old at the time. I think that the lessons that my parents taught me that month were very important and I think that our actions were heroic.

Is this a good example of being "heroic"?

I worked at a chemical process plant and there was a huge explosion - I ran around the corner and saw a HUGE wall of flame, and this guy was kind of stumbling around. I rushed into the flames like an idiot, and pulled him to safety. I called for help and made sure medical personnel were able to find us on scene, and got the chemical plant shut down. It totally sucked to see this guy all burned up - he lived, but he was badly burned - it was tough to see,

Yes, I prevented a woman, crossing a one-way street, from being hit by by a Taxi floored in reverse. She was not looking in his direction. I yelled to her at the top of my lungs to get out of the way. It jarred her to the reality of what was happening & she quickly got out of the way. The taxi driver was too lazy to go around the block and try again, when he mistakenly drove past his destination.
