My best friend WAS bi, and she put something on her myspace, it said "i like taco salad", and her mom saw it and she thinks she's a lez because a taco is the shape of a rainbow......and now she's not bi anymore she's straight. She has family problems now because everyone in her family thinks she's a lesbian......any advice i can give her?
ps: she's 17

and if that doesnt work, tell her to talk about guys 24/7 and find a boyfriend. Maybe they will shut the parents up.

Have your friend be true to herself. Once you have been bitten by the bi bug your bi forever. Let face the fact just becuase your under alot of presure doesn't mean you can just yes your str8. The hard part is done eveyone know now so what life goes on. Parents can be jerks most of the time always thinking they know best. Instead of being understanding and supportive during this time in her life. Tell your friend to be herself, she has the best of both worlds. Just because she's bi it's not the end of the world. Bi's have more fun.

She's still young and trying to find herself. Maybe she should take some time to find out for herself without broadcasting it on myspace. Anonymous chat rooms, (nothing sexual just talking to other bi and lesbian teens), LGBT Centers and bookstores are good places to start. It will take time but eventually she will decide for herself if she is straight, bi or lesbian. It is difficult if she is getting pressure from her family but in order to be happy she is going to have to be honest with herself and them and be who is really is. Most times they are shocked at first but eventually they will come around. Good luck!

Firstly make an appointment with a shrink for her mother as she needs some serious help. What an idiot!. As for her (your friend) there's nothing that you can do. Parental pressure is the worst sort of pressure and parents seem to be completely ignorant of the pain they cause when imposing choices on their children. Just be there for her, be a friend for her because she's going to become more confused and feel more trapped than before because of her parents actions.

She obviously has a hard time coming out to her family . She may need them for financial support or she may not be able to live on her own quite yet . Let her come out in her own time . What is right for others may not be right for her . You are doing the only thing you can do , Just be her friend and listen to her when she needs to talk .

hahhaah...lol..thats funny about "taco salad". Maybe to remind her Mom that she is only 17 and that 17 yr olds say dumb things sometimes and they experiment went people to find out what they want/like. Maybe even to tell her that she didnt have sex with a women.???

well if everyone already thinks she's a lesbian then i'm sure they'll be relieved if she was "just" bi. she should tell them I'm sure things could not get any worse......
