There seems to be many dissenting opinions about this, but I will stray off to the side, thinking completely outside the box, and suggest it's the heater core.

Has anyone mentioned the heater core might be leaking? I'd put my money on that one.

Sounds like,or should I say smells like, your heater core has gone bad.If your lucky,its just a hose.

Assuming there is no leak, engine is too hot and Antifreeze is burning.... problem with your water pump.
