I think abortion should be an option in the following circumstances:

Incest- because of world-wide taboos and the possibility of genetic defects.

Rape- because the fetus is the product of violence, not love or even like, and the woman should not be forced to carry the baby of a violent criminal.

The health of the mother- if the woman's health would be in SERIOUS jeopardy, then abortion should be an option. An educated, adult female may have other children and would be a greater loss to society if she were allowed to die.

I know that some people will be offended by this but the whole point is to be able to voice your opinions without being judged, so here goes!
First of all, Abortion should not be legal at all! I know you think that woman should have a right to choose what they do with their bodies, but this tiny little unborn child should have rights as well!
If you were raped or something of that nature, I can completely understand not wanting the baby, but do you have any idea how many woman can't have children and would love to adopt your baby? There are always other options, than abortion!
The moment that fetus(I hate that word) it is a baby is conceived, the very moment of conception, that is a human life and no one should have the right to take a human life, especially one that has never even had a chance to breathe air!
No matter how underdeveloped that baby is, it is still a human life! Just think about it this way, if you walked into Walmart and they handed you a tiny little baby, what would you do? You would not just put it on the floor and walk off, right? If you did not want the baby you would give him/her to someone who did! No one in their right mind would just abandon the baby, right? It is the same thing, even though you are not physically holding that baby in your arms, you are giving him/her life and to take that away, to me that is inexcusable! You know they will put someone in the electric chair if they commit murder but it is o.k. to kill a baby, just because you can't see it? Just because you can't see it does not mean that him/her does not exist! Please think about it? What if someone had aborted you and you were looking down from heaven right now, wondering why you were not given a chance? Any one who feels that the only way out is abortion, just let me know, I will take the baby for you gladly!

No one should ever tell a woman what to do with her own body!!Especially if she was raped--where do you people get off , saying"she should carry the baby to term and place it up for adoption''?! I'd like to see you get raped by someone, knocked up because he didn't even have the decency to use protection(adding insult to injury!) and then try to have the baby! It would be hard, not just for you but for the child, too. An unplanned pregnancy would be enough of a shock and a hardship if you'd had consentual sex, so I think this would be devastating, on top of the rape. But regardless of the circumstances, all women are given the right to choose for a reason, and I think other people out there need to respect that, because #1: They're not in this person's shoes, so they shouldn't judge; and #2:It's none of their business anyhow! I myself would never be able to go through with an abortion, and I also can't stand the women who have repeated abortions, that is just wrong. But there is a way to completely avoid being put into the situation of ever having to make this difficult choice---we all need to educate ourselves and each other on ways to stop the violence against women, and every single one of us should be using protection if you don't want to have to deal with an unplanned pregnancy!

Legally?
Any woman in her first two trimesters for any reason. After that solely for health of the mother or congenital deformities that are unsurvivable (anencephaly for example).

Personally and Morally?
I have no moral issues with abortion of a fetus that has not developed the capacity for higher brain function (what separates us from, say, a pig - an animal that's really pretty intelligent). After that point I would morally object to abortion except for the health of the mother, or severe deformities (as mentioned above). I'm torn about making a decision to abort a child with something like downs syndrome, or another survivable deformity. I don't like the eugenics aspect of such an act, but on a practical level not every family can care for a special-needs child.

As to the "Morning After Pill" and IUDs:
I don't view either of these as abortion. The morning after pill generally works by delaying ovulation, rather than preventing implantation, and far more developed embryos are destroyed as the result of IVF (in-vitro fertilization) procedures. I personally have an IUD, and it is the only feasible means of birth control for me, and I'm a poor candidate for having a child (the medications I'm on cause birth defects).

If it is a situation where if the mother would have birth, she would risk her life in dieing. Or if there was a possibility that the baby would be born with a serious and incurable birth defect.

Otherwise, if it just because you had unprotected sex and now you are pregnant. And don't want your mom or dad to know, its not right! Even if its a rape pregnancy, I would whether see the baby being adopted by someone, instead of killed or treated unfairly. In these two cases I would consider it murder. That person could have killed a baby that was destine to be a future president or lawyer.

Inducing your period can either be intentional or naturally spontaneous. Granted there are several developmental stages and it is usually the first 3 months of gestation that tends to be the natural course for the body to either accept or purge. It would be difficult to say what any one condition would make an unfortunate and difficult decision. I have empathy for anyone that has to make that choice under any condition. However, I am not one to judge if they should or shouldn't since I do not wear their shoes.

i am totally against abortion because its basically killing a human being. but an exception is if the woman carrying the baby has a medical condition in which the baby cannot be born for the sake of the baby and the mother. but other than that abortion isnt a good idea. maybe try adoption.

In the US all women have the right to choose an abortion.

It's the law.

Your body is private & belongs to no one but yourself. You should be allowed the freedom to make decisions about your body yourself.

I support the right to choose. I don't necessarily support abortion at will at any time, but I do support the right to make a choice.

With all your respect but I think that abortion should be allowed when someone gets raped because she is always going to remembered this bad nightmare. It is worst to see the baby who is not guilty to be born.

But I'm totally disagree with girls/women who do abortion more than 3 times. This is not acceptable. If they don't want babies, use protection.
