How do you keep a floor drain trap from drying out. How do you hook up a water line to it?

trap primer can be installed on a half inch water line

cut a tee into a near by line and install the primer on the bottom of the tee

on the outlet side of the primer install a line going to the floor drain

now every time water is run past the tee some water will drip into the drain via the trap primer

ps be sure to leave at least a 2 inch air gap above the floor drain most codes require one

i heard that if you pour some vegtable oil down the drain that helps.

that has to be plumbed from yhr start, it's called a trap primer
