God is the reduction of everything that is illogical to the simplest possible non-answer

If it is real then it's not a very nice entity.

A god of some sort pervades mankind of all kinds. That does not prove or disprove a superior force. What it does suggest is that mankind is willing to invent an explanation if it cannot find a real answer. Hawaiians invented the god Pele to explain volcanoes for example.

It also suggests that mankind is essesntially insecure in its own abilities. So it has to invent a god-crutch to help it limp along in life.

There are two sayings that pertain. First, power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. Second, god is absolute. I, for one, hope there is no such thing as an absolute god.

Yes. And I applaud you for putting this question in Science rather than religion.

The real God is more scientific than any of the religious fanatics will ever be able to understand.

I have a funny feeling that in the not too distant future, we're all going to find out for sure that God is real, when Jesus returns to earth.

Of course he's real. Wether or not you belive in him is up to you, but there has to be some mastermind to all of this creation that we see and experience around us. Whatever form or discription you give to God, there is something giving us all consciousness. Have you ever said to yourself, "gee, I hope I win this, or pass this test, or whatever...?" Who do you think you are really "talking to" when you wish.

Yes.
And since this is in the category of "Space," consider this:
What was the uncaused first cause from which all time, space, energy, and matter emerged?
Logically, something that transcends all those things. Something spiritual and infinitely powerful. I call that something "God."

If god wrote the bible, then why do they call it the "book of james", and the "book of matthew", etc?

The bible was written by human beings. Several times over, and then revised and revised. So why do people keep saying god wrote it?
