I am the all American girl. I grew up as a working woman in the twenty first century. I have hard working parents that want to provide the best for myself and my brother, yet force morals and values on us so that we know the value of the American dollar.

I've had a job through high school and college, and I am now interning during the summer to prepare myself for the long haul of the post graduation job search.

I feel like I lead the typical life of any girl growing up in the United States with hopes and dreams.

I truly believe that I can do anything I set my mind to.

The song "Only in America" by Brooks and Dunn comes to mind.

Oh yeah, I eat McDonald's, too.

My family came to this place in 1622. Our blood has been mixed with many during the last almost 400 years. That makes me an all American mutt!

Honestly though, after a couple of generations we all are 100% Americans, unless we hold on to the past for some reason. Then we become hyphen Americans!

Well, since we have just about every background and nationality living in America anyone can be described as "All American".

Now, if you want to describe the original inhabitants "All American" would be somone of Native American descent.

I know I'm not one but I've taken quite a few sociology classes and all of my professors say the same thing:

To be an American--
one has to be born in the US, educated in the US (gone through the US school system), belong to a political party, and be ignorant or arrogant to the world.

I know it sounds rather harsh but that's what they would consider to be "all American."

PS I'm majoring in sociology, hence the sociology courses
