Well, you could always choose not to watch and perhaps read a book, go out, do something else, or ask questions on here!

If the repeats are mostly from the 70's can we pay 70's prices too?

If you want 24 hour t.v expect repeats. You pay your licence fee to cover the BBC television programmes for this we get no commercials between programmes consequently a 30min programme last 30 mins (well 29min usually) this is better than the America where advert breaks mean a 30min show really lasts only 20min. Break down the t.v day how much of it really is repeats. Remember we used to have shutdowns and the Open University. The licence fee not only covers BBC One and Two but Three and Four. Not only that but also the quality website and the radio stations which are free to anyone (The money still has to come some where for it). it's £131.50 for a years worth of viewing, listening and news reporting. That's just over £2.50 a week or 36 pence a day. Now if you had the opportunity to pay 36p a day to remove all the commercials from your t.v would you accept that? And that 36p a day what does that cover? Bleak House, Dr Who, Planet Earth all programmes that make our television great. We have to put up with repeats in order for the money to be free for these programmes. Don't complain about repeats, o.k some of them take the biscuit but it also means that if you missed it the first time round then you can watch it again and some people get a chance to see a classic that they could have never seen the first time round. For example I, Claudius on BBC 4 for me. sometimes repeats are good things
