They very often harbour the louts in an area.
Is it the claustrophobia of some people, lots of houses facing each other, that they can't control and makes them want to dominate?
Is it the less-visible quality, that brings out the bad - like an estate that has few access roads can be very rough?

Most modern resedential UK roads now have cul-de-sacs which are designed to slow down motorists in the area simply because of small children and pets in the area are in higher proximity in these places. And it usually works. I live in one and this street is quiet and with no teenage louts or whatever hanging around, but then again, this isn't a council house area. I'm 18.

Cul-de-Sac means "bottom of the bag" and being a bloke I don't have a handbag but I do have a rucksack which which has a bottom covered in crap from every shitty airport / station ferry terminal / baggage hold / campsite that I have ever put it on the ground!!
Having said that I believe it has obtained character from all this crud so maybe it ain't bad after all !

simply because it is a dead end, there is no fresh meat travelling through. these idiot white council trash dont know any better because as far as they are concerned the universe itself stops at the end of their patch. They are closetted by their inbreeding and total lack of servicable neurons. I would round em all up and stick em on st kilda.

Cul-de-sacs are what they call dead ends in fancy parts of towns. My aunt moved into one and my dad said "So you live on a dead end?" and she said, very snootily, "No, it's a cul-de-sac."
I've never heard of people purposeflly buying a home on a dead end.
