Well I'm from New Orleans..and we don't really get hit bad as we did like from Katrina last year..and I been living there all my life..until last year. There was never any big threat throughout my years and the storms that did pass through weren't that bad. A rainstorm..thats normal for New Orleans area..but that hurricane surprised alot of people..and we were all under the impression "oh its not gonna hit" or "its not gonna be as bad as they making it seem". Yea well from personal experience..if they say another storm like it is heading that way again..you better believe I will be on the interstate as soon as they say its in the gulf of mexico. No mo playing reality Survivor series for me.

Maybe there home is all they have. For some it may not be worth the trouble of leaving. I think if people choose to stay no help should be given after the fact--because they should have really evacuated like everyone else.

For me, where I live is where I had one of my best Military Tours of Duty, and this is where I Retired -- to be able to NOT have the bone-chilling bitter cold and many feet of snow that happens where I was born and grew up (oh, and the tornados too!). (I now live along the Gulf Coast -- Hurricane Zone). I just made sure I bought my home far enough inland, had it beefed up to stronger than required hurricane standards, and use my Hurricane Shutters and Panels to protect my home.

could it be since the insurance replaces the home each and every time. It's like having a brand new home yearly.
