What about being on the beach at night? I don't mean at midnight, I'm talking 9 or 10 at night.

You should treat any other city or town in any other country the same as you would your own city or town. Just because you're on vacation in a resort town doesn't make it safe. There are crazy folks everywhere.

Old town Nassau down by the market water front can get rough any time of day there are always hustlers and con men pickpockets hanging around ... looking for a new victim.... stick to the resorts.... I have sailed around Nassau town for many years...

i was there last year downtown seemed safe a lot of police walking patrols during the day i don't know about nighttime.as far as the beach at night I'm as liberal as they come but would not allow it. remember these are poor countries with lots of drugs and vagrants. the one time we ventured away from the resort on cable beach i won't lie more than one car of men slowed to size up the situation . i know my physical presence did seem to deter them I'm 6'5" 420lbs and very street smart i know when I'm being sized up so use your best judgment .we also met a couple with the male being an ex marine and on the philadelphia swat team that was harrassed by car load of natives.

It is certainly safe in the day. The tourist areas are fine. Further back from the coast it's not so great. I wouldn't let MY teenage daughters hang out on the beach at 10PM, but that's just me. P.S. I don't have any daughters (to worry about), thank goodness!!!!

I guess it depends on the age & maturity level of your daughters. However after what happened to that poor girl last summer, I wouldnt.
