I don't hate the rich. I do believe that the people who have benefited the most from this country should give the most back. Since most of them will refuse to, I think the government should tax them more. Instead the government wants to give them the option to pay more in taxes, I feel that this hurts the good people and helps the greedy ones.

ya ill tell you why i hate the rich, because every time you turn around in this country you here lets give the rich another tax break,lets not hurt the big corps.by asking them to pay a higher min. wage, every thing in this country is geared toward the rich,when was the last time the government did any thing to help the working poor?ya and i dont want to here well they collect welfare because thats a lame *** excuse, ill give you an example of what im saying lets say the rich were having trouble with not recieving health care in this country you would see how fast the problem would be retified. the working poor should go on strike for about 1 week this country would come to a screeting halt,ya just think no one to clean your house pich up your gargage no one to baby sit your kids no plumbers no electricans no one to serve you at star bucks, mcdonalds the list never ends and by the way i have no hollywood hippie buddies

Wow. Another mindless characterization by someone who can't actually look at the underlying issues.

Democratic liberals believe that the role of the government is to take care of the general populace. For those who can't take care of themselves, they look to the mandate in the constitution ("to provide for the general Welfare") and play Robin Hood -- taking from the rich to give to the poor.

Whether you agree with that interpretation of the Constitutional goal or not, that doesn't mean that liberals hate the rich. It just means that they believe the money would be better spent helping people who don't have money, and want to use the government to help distribute the wealth more evenly.

Personally, I don't agree with that policy. I think it's wrong for the government (regardless of how good the motive) to forcibly take people's property for the benefit of others. That's why I'm neither a liberal nor a Democrat.

But even if some people don't agree with them, I would hope that they would actually do some research and try to understand all the different perspectives, before engaging in a debate on the merits of the issue. Rather than just calling someone names because you don't like them.
