Hi, my computer has just been infected by a trojan horse but my AVG antivirus cought it as "Downloader.agent.etp". The problem is that the file contaminated was WININET.DLL located in the windows/system32 directory. So when I clicked on the "heal" button of my AVG antivirus it just removed the WININET.DLL file !!!

That caused a lot of problem and I had to find a clean file on the web to replace it but now I am wondering if anybody is aware of what does that virus do exactly and if you are aware of any source of contamination. (maybe www.spele.nl)

Thanks

With respect, it's not true that you can only get ETP by using Internet Explorer. We got infected with it in the last couple of days, and I use Firefox and the other PC here uses Opera. Sorry and all that.

Hi, Downloader.agent.ETP is a digusting infamous spyware virus. perhaps you can try Norton and Mcafee to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar, which can disable the virus, becasue the virus can only run on IE.

firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and spyware, adware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

There are many variants of the Downloader.agent trojan, but the ETP variant doesn't seem to be known... most of them download other kinds of virusses and infect your pc with it...
