When I hook up my trailer to my car and turn on the turn signals, the lights are very dim, and go very fast. Both on car, and trailer. I was wondering if it was a ground problem, but I'm not sure. The brakes and lights work fine, just the turn signals.

Your bliniker (in fuse block) is only designed to handle the lights on the vehicle. When you hook up your trailer it adds a heavier load on the blinker. They work off of heat caused by resistance. More lights=more resistance=more heat produced in the blinker. Thus causing it to toggle faster. This is an easy remedy. Go to an auto parts sore and purchase a heavy duty/towing blinker for your vehicle and switch them out. It just plugs in like a fuse. Also check and be sure you have a good ground between the trailer and the vehicle. The contact the ball makes is not good enough. You need a wire. It needs to be hooked to the car on the plug and the trailer on the other half of the plug.

The flasher module, usually found on one of the fuse panels, needs to be changed to a "heavy duty". You can buy it at pep boys or auto zone.

The original is designed for only the car, and adding more lights for the trailer overloads it. Cars and trucks with the "towing" option don't suffer this problem.

The lights are drawing too much current for the flasher in your car. Replace the standard one with a heavy duty one and you'll be all set. Any auto parts store can set you up for less than $5.00.

does not the wiring must be grounded on the trailer too? I had a similar concern with a trailer i offered. My truck has a production unit tow kit so the subject had to be with the trailer, confident sufficient the floor cord on the trailer grow to be unfastened.
