That is sooooo friggin' hilarious bc when my husband and I are watching anything he narrates, we crack up bc he is sooo dramatic. We make fun of him. Good to know, we aren't the only "makerfunners" out there. Sorry I just made up that word.

I don't think so. Besides, he does add a certain dose of on-the-edge-of-your-seat narration and his humorous remarks serve as comic relief. Here's a sample of John's humor from a season 1 episode 5 video clip of the original "World's Wildest Police Videos": "Missoula, Montana. Two days after Christmas. It's love on the run as cops chase a couple driving two separate stolen cars. In the lead is a 29 year-old man driving the brown Suburban followed by his pregnant 27-year old girlfriend in the blue Laser." Later on at the end of the clip he says "This is one couple who will be spending their New Year's Eve behind bars."

I doubt that he's dead. He's retired and his son Mark is a police officer in Portland, OR. What can I say; like father, like son. Plus, I'm fairly certain John is still happily married and probably spend his retirement relaxing, going fly-fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren (yeah, I'm certain that since he's 70 going on 71 John has a few grandchildren).

No, but I enjoyed watching 'Cops' when he was hosting it.
I think that guy who hosts/narrates 'Investigative Reports' is better - Bill Curtis.

He talks serious because his subject is serious. He's not a trained narrator, he was a Sheriff.

is he the one who says things like, "this suspect used to like hanging out in bars, now he'll be spending all his time behind bars"
and doesn't he have a faint lisp?
