Neither! Pop punk bands are dominating the music industry because of their radio-friendly way to make normal, lame people FEEL like they're punk or a rebel. You might hear someone say "I listen to Green Day/Simple Plan" in a way that sounds like they're bragging. No one has any right to brag about what song they heard, because no matter if it's Shakira to Green Day to Miles Davis or anything inbetween, it's NOT going to make them cooler if they pretend to worship that artist and brag about it. Listen to what your tastes prefer, find what's right for you. Ask for recommendations from your friends and family if you're lost. But don't pretend you're cool JUST because you listen to pop punk. Respect, man, respect.
