I'm 19 weeks pregnant and have lately been feeling like I have a kinda hardening or build-up of gas or something, is this normal. It comes and goes, but I have a hard time passing gas?? 1st pregnancy!!!! Thanks

Congratulations Meldt! I hope you have a very easy pregnancy and easy delivery. What you are describing is very normal. Your body is changing very quickly. If you are terribly worried, or you have a lot of pain, call your doctor. Constipation may be a problem now too, as may be heartburn. Try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Your life is never going to be the same again. :) Nana

I would say that is it is fairly normal...now I'm not a doctor and I assume you know that if it is something your very concerned about you should go see your doctor....but are you having constipation problems...otherwise organs tend to shift as the baby grows which makes some things a little more difficult....check out babyzone.com they have lots of great mom to be advice...good luck with the little one!!

meteorism -- Swelling of the abdomen caused by gas in the intestines or peritoneal cavity. Also called tympanites.

could it be possible that an intestine is getting twisted, or kinked to where the gas can not pass, it just sits and builds?

Braxton Hicks contractions. They are normal, your uterus is becoming toned up for labor.
