Depends what sort of crowd you've got. They could be into anything from hardcore rave to classic Bulgarian opera. Personally I'd prefer to hear Oasis, Snow Patrol, Picture House, Keane, The Verve, Travis, etc, etc; plus some reasonable tunes from the charts.

Any/every thing by the black-eyed peas. I'm guessing all of the cr***y mobile phone 'choons' that chavs play at at least volume 20 on public transport- (and give you lip and or filthy looks when you ask them to turn it down) particularly the ones that sound like the chipmonks singing at high speed!!

I'd expect to hear "Blister in the Sun" by the Violent Femmes, at which point I'd flee the party.

Lots of cr*ppy cheesy stuff.

Some generic birthday stuff:
- congratulations by Sir Cliff
- happy birthday (obviously)
- house of fun by Madness (welcome to the house of fun now I've come of age)

Lots of Bon Jovi, Brian Adams, and so on.

All the school disco stuff basically.

In your country, horrible techno seems to suffice.
In the US, it really depends on the crowd.
