The Toyota Highlander Hybrid qualifies for the US Federal Income tax deduction of $2600. (The amount varies by vehicle - highest so far is $3150 for the Prius.) It must be purchased new between Jan. 1, 2006 and Sept. 30, 2006, to receive this full credit amount. Oct. 1, 2006 the credit will drop by 50% for Toyota/Lexus hybrids...

I am not aware of any CA-specific incentives for the Hybrid Highlander.

You may want to ask on an owners list, such as:

Check with the dealer. They can tell you how it works.

The tax credits depend upon the vehicle that you purchase and vary widely from one vehicle to the next. Once the manufacturer has sold a certain number of eligible vehicles, the credit cuts off.

The dealer can tell you how much the credit is, and if there are any left. Toyotas sell quickly, so it's likely that most Toyota credits won't last very long.
