Uhhh... well, just because we didn't live through it and those that did don't complain about it or live in it - how about the Great Depression followed by World War II? (Roosevelt)
Makes our times look pretty sweet - which they are by comparison.
Be a bit more broad minded and stop whining.
You have so much to be grateful for in this country - think about that for a change.
There is no better place to live, that is why we can afford to be spoiled and whine and complain - but should do just the opposite. And those that are wise cherish and appreciate this country. You would not want to live anywhere else - if you did these problems would quickly not seem so great.

You give the President credit for an awful lot of power. He does not set gas prices, nor was he responsible for the CA power crisis. He was not responsible for 9/11, Katrina or any of the other examples you cite. Do you have any solutions? Or do you just whine? You are officially a moron~ congrats!

People keep asking this question, and I keep responding: James Buchanan was the worst president in US history. He tried to let Kansas into the union as a slave state, causing the civil unrest known now as "Bleeding Kansas". His weak attempts to negotiate and stall regarding the issue of slavery laws led directly to the Civil War. Under his leadership the US federal government stalled, because sectionalism that he did not understand adequately caused a deep rift in the country. It was a country he was not qualified to heal.

Now, I don't like ol' GWB, but really, he's at least not causing a civil war in his own country. Other countries, maybe...but he's not the worst president ever.

Yes. Carter's wasn't that long ago, and there was a nightly 'misery index' on the news, Johnson's was only a little before that. Hoover's was downright scary, and Lincoln's was akin to the end of the world. Jefferson's was very close to ending the American experiment and Adam's was considered, at the time to be the most cowardice administration.

If you truly think that all of the items you listed are one person's fault you probably need to wake up and smell the roses and take a course in the United States governmental structure...maybe then you can post an educated question. Oh, by the way, you live in the FINEST country on the face of the Earth...love it or leave it!

You bet. It was known as "Camelot". Have you read Seymour M. Hersh's "The Dark Side of Camelot", the saga of the Kennedy clan? JFK was the central figure, but you will learn a lot about Bobby and Teddy that you probably don't want to know.

Our nation is STILL enduring Ted "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy of Massachusetts.

Herbert Hoovers term was worse. His tenure started with one of the worst disasters in American history, the Great depression, which landed almost a third of the American population out of work. Also, he enacted few programs to help the american people get back on their feet, and the ones he did enact failed. if it wasnt for FDR, this country would be in deep ****. You cant get much worse than that!

well.. there always a possibility for worse. We thought Hitler was the last one, now we see Saddam, some ppl may consider "Bush" for that matter. I would not blame anyone for natural disasters.. but ppl can definitely be blamed for not planning for natural disasters like Katrina or man made disasters like Ramsfeild made in Iraq.
