Do you think men who had long-term relationships (I mean 2-3 years, not necessarily 10) but did not get married even though their GFs wanted to are afraid of commitment in general? Does the fact that they had long-tem rlnships but did not tie the knot mean they are less likely to commit in the future?

some people never grow up

I am in a relationship with a man that is 48 and never married. We have been together for almost 6 years. I am not worried that he is not ready to commit. I assure you that it is far better to be with a man that has a hard time committing than one who wants to marry you on the second date. At least you know he is careful in his decissions. Don't worry about him but if you want a committed relationship and he is not ready talk to him, let him know what you really feel. He will most likely do one of 2 things. 1. He will tell you what he's thinking
2. He will tell you he is not ready to talk about it.

If he tells you that he is not ready to talk about it ask him why and tell him it is important for you to know where you stand with him. If he refuses to talk you had better start looking elsewhere.

I found out that my man has issues with abandonment. He has seen so many members of his family divorce that he is afraid. I am gining him the time he needs because things are good the way they are. If I ever get tired of waiting for him to commit, I will let him know that I will not put my life on hold any longer. If he is important to you you might think about giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Good luck

They just haven't found the right person. Committment scares eveyone, but for the right person people are willing to get over it. Guys don't want girls to harp on getting married if they are not interested at that point. Guys who are seriously afraid of committment wouldn't be in a 2-3 year relationship.

Sometimes. It may also be that they really weren't that in to the girls they were with, but didn't necessarily want to be alone. Men will move mountains to be with the one they truly love. Great stories are written, and great movies are made about this very thing. It clearly says, I will be married someday, however not to "you". Sad, but true.

Some guys just don't want to get married. What is the point anymore. Married or not, everyone is all the same. There is nothing special about marrige anymore to some guys.
