The same way Americans live with the daily threat of killer gerbils rising up in a dramatic, violent revolution and nibbling the Whitehouse to splinters.

They don't know about it.

The government has ordered all Egyptian newspapers, TV and radio stations to conceal the following facts:

A. The pyramids are actually active mini-Krakatuas, with a rough coat of sawdust and honey applied by ancient craftsmen who foresaw that this would make them more 'touristy' in the future. Most geologists think that the accumulated pressure of nine centuries will cause a massive simultaneous explosion between 11.00 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. on 14th August 2006.

B. The Sphinx is alive, has been thus for thousands of years, and is just waiting patiently for sunset on 14th August 2006, to get off its pedestal and walk around eating people.

Boy, are them Egyptians gonna have some cleaning up to do next week, or what?

It's sort of similar to how I ignore the daily threat of being crushed by a boulder that would fall off of the edge of the cliff which is right next to my apartment which is actually in town...it's on the edge of town, but it's in town. People just get used to it; I am sure they would appreciate your concern though. Maybe you could start a charity fund for the next volcanic eruption which would displace all of those Egyptians.

It's a normal part of life to them. Just like when we go out in public, there's a constant threat of getting robbed, shot, ranover, beat up, etc.
