If you want to drive OTR, there are several companies that will help train you and give you a job. Most of the time you will have to sign a contract stating you will stay there for at least 6 months (maybe less) so they can recover the cost of training. Schneider, Swift, and TMC are a few companies to look at. You can make your own decision, but I would stay away from JB Hunt. My personal experience with them was not pleasant. I'm willing to bet if you did a 'net search on truck driving jobs, you'd get a bunch of sites to look at.

Contact your local community college or tractor-trailer training school. You may need to complete a 150-hour CDL course for Class A (OTR) drivers so that companies will accept you for hire more readily. Perhaps you've have something on your driving record, or a spotty work history. (Do not lie on your employment application...you must go back 10 years without any breaks in employment.) Do you have some medical issue holding you back from getting the 2 year physical certificate? You need to start working for a big trucking company to gain experience before you will be hired locally...it is just the way it is.
