.. At home remedies? Good things to eat or drink? Ways to boost energy? Is the only way you can give it to someone else by kissing or sharing glasses or utensils? Any other information would be welcome, because I'm definitely not having a fun time here.

I've had mono twice, and believe me, it was not fun. You can get it from the same ways you can get the flu or a virus- sharing germs. It doesn't necessarily have to be from kissing. I don't know of any remedies to help (the last time I had it was 3 years ago and I had it for 3 1/2 months), but make sure you stay away from physical activity that involves your stomach area. Your spleen sometimes fills with blood when you have mono and you could rupture it and have a big problem. This is rare, but they tell you to stay away from physical activity.

I've had mono before and it was very rough! I can understand how you are feeling and the frustrations it causes. Be aware that you can spread mono just by coming in contact with fluids from an infected person, be it by sharing drinks and food or maybe placing your hand on a wall where they've spit. It's not just a kissing desease! You can spread mono just by coming in contact with fluids from the infected person be it in a drink, on silverware, on the wall...etc.. When I had mono I had a very bad sore throat and find it hard to eat. I was able to eat little pieces of hard boiled egg and I would recommend getting a lot juice that has plenty of vitamins in it. Other then that get someone to rent you a lot of good movies and just rest!!!!!

A friend of mine had mono recently and her glands were so swollen the doctor gave her steroids for the inflammation. The name of the medication was Prednisone. One of the side effects of the medication is possible sleeplessness, so it helped her on two fronts. I would try to get as much rest as possible, take a B vitamin supplement (with as many of the B vitamins as you can - they have liquid B complex supplements). Additionally, whenever I feel like I'm coming down with something I take a supplement called EmergenC which dissolves in water. My sister and a personal trainer recommended it, and I'm hooked (I hate swallowing pills so I have trouble keeping a vitamin pill regimen). They have a number of flavors and it seems to help me through the cold and flu (virus) season.

Hope you feel better soon, it takes time but does pass.

My husband caught mono when he was 40, and it lasted well over a year. Its not only caught by kissing it is a virus that you can get just by someone talking to you too close, the virus shows up in your blood stream. He suffered horribly throughout it and at one point thought he was going to die. His liver and spleen swelled up and stayed swollen throughout it. The glands in his neck where also sore. (they call it glandular fever in other countries) The doctor prescribed him steroids but that barely helped and made him gain alot of weight. The only help he got was from an herbologist. She gave him liquid chloraphyle, (don't know the correct spelling) I know chloraphyle is in grass and the liquid was as green as grass. She said it was to cleanse his liver. At that point my husband started to feel better. He's 43 now and at times when he's overly stressed he feels the symptoms of mono, with his liver and spleen. However it isn't as bad as it was during that year and a half. I'll sure pray for you, I know it scared me while he had it. Make sure you dont get hit in the stomach around your liver and spleen too, it can make your liver or spleen rupture, (his doctor told him this).

I have never been in to herbal remedies, but when I was in High School two kids came down with mono. One took herbs and the other took prescription drugs. The kid on herbs was practicing in 3 weeks and the other kid never made it back.
Find someone in your area who deals with herbal remedies and give em a shot.
