... source: history

Elder Bush in office=war in middle east=questions about stability of supply=record high gas prices

Clinton in office=no war in middle east relatively= no questions about stability of supply=stabilization of gas prices

Current Bush in office=war in middle east=questions about stability of supply=record high gas prices

so, my guess would be, given the history of the situation... when we get out of the middle east and when a Bush isn't in office...

John: I don't remember prices at record highs during Clinton? Are you sure you just weren't getting high under Clinton? can you cite that... I didn't look hard to cite my argument? and I'm sure no Republicans voted against drilling? are you sure? How can Democrats be so powerful with the minority... I haven't heard of a filibuster on the issue... have you? Nice job trying to pawn off Republican problems on Democrats.

Never! It is not because of the war but because of sky-rocketing costs of production. I work for an oil company. The cost of exploration has risen as we use space-age technology, radioactive isotobes, angular drilling, and many other things that are complicated to explain. In the Gulf of Mexico are 2,000 platforms that are defunct...gas and oil is gone, and it is cost-prohibitive to remove the platforms but they must be maintained by people for marine safety. The safety regulations imposed by the various governments require monitoring but also extensive training. Since we are doing much drilling in the sea beds, we need helicopters and ships to service the platforms, feed the men and provide decent accomodations for men that work 12 hours a day and can't go home at night. The oil Industry also provides schools (English is the language of oil production), hospitals, libraries and shore-based housing. Tropical storms or typhoons cause evacuations of workers and to keep the supply of gas and oil moving, we need an onshore computer center. Of course, fire departments, security, human resources, and then we need to re-train the workers for safety and new technology on a regular basis. A control simulator is very expensive but not as expensive as building a whole platform. Platforms look a bit like a spider, with legs stretching out in different dirrections and each leg joins a well head and each costs millions of dollars. It takes years to confirm and justify the investment of a hundred million dollars.

Gas prices have gone up steadily since Pres. Bush signed tax cuts for oil companies and so have their profits. That bill was signed last year. Prices will go down when they lose govt protection or there is a world wide oil glut.

The good news is that the terrorism quotient is going down. And based on the drop in the price per barrel, you will see a drop in price come late September or early October.

G is waaaaaay off base. Obvisouly a Clinton lover, he must not remember the record price of the time he was president.

Gas is about supply and demand. OPEC sets the supply, and the demand is high, so they keep supply low and its smart for them but bad for me. Furthermore, crude oil makes up 75% of the price of a gallon of gas.

Alaska, has the largest known oil resvoir in the world, but thank your local democrat for not allowing drilling up there. 4 million barrels a day would work wonders

all a scam by the gas companies to gouge and fix prices. Gas will go down when we get people in the US government willing to start looking at the oil companies, and doing something about it.

I don't think you will get an accurate answer about when gas prices will go down. I honestly don't figure the price will drop anytime soon, much to our dismay!
