You would have to have a router to send the signal of your internet out first. Routers are easy to set up if you get a good first time one. Linksys and Netgear or Belkin are a good way to go for home networking.

There are public places like hotels, Starbucks, Bookstores and other places to hook up to the internet.

You have a wireless network card. A wireless internet card is something you'd get through a company such as verizon or sprint and that would allow you to get it anywhere, for example your car driving down the highway. In order to use the wireless network card though to get internet you either have to be in an area such as barnes and nobles that has a wireless network set up or you would need to get a wireless router in your home and plug your internet connection into that so it could send the signal to your computer via the wireless network card.
