When I attempt to reply or compose an e-mail in my Yahoo account, the page which appears has the recipient's e-mail & message heading, and the flag for attaching files (though it won't let me do so), but not the window for entering text. It won't send a 'blank' e-mail either.

If you are viewing your mails from a browser then first clear your temporary internet files and clear the cache, then re-load the compose page and try.

which yahoo are you using,?
i had a similar problem like this when i had an old version of yahoo and was using windows/msn antivirus,
it has a conflict of interest cos ur not using hotmail, same goes if you are using aol internet and try to access msn messenger sometimes.
I now have yahoo7 and different antivirus, (not microsoft based) and everything is better than fine, msn/microsoft just keep trying to push you into using nothing but their products,
