Open your trunk and pull back the liner by your tail light. I have never done this on a G6 but if it is like a grand am it shouldn't be a problem. There should be plastic wingnuts holding it in place and you can just twist off, and remove.
Give that a try

open the trunk. see if there is an inner cover over the lamp. there should be some small nuts to remove and the lamp will come out

should be tabs or screws in the trunk
