I believe they should. The reason is simple; the parents could help find a good doctor. Many girls who have an abortion take a chance with utalizing quacks. This can cause them to cede the ability to give birth in the future; it could also cause death.

Given that it is the teenage girl's body, that it is her who will have to suffer pregnancy then this is none of the parent's business.
Most parents are Christian Fools, meaning that they simply DON'T educate their child in sexuality. Therefore accidents like teenage pregnancy can occur.
Since those parents neglected to give a proper scientific and pragmatic sex education to their children, then they have no business giving consent for an abortion.
Neglect of sex education is like rape. Did the child give consent to become ignorant, or was this ignorance forced by uncaring parents.
Since they were uncaring enough to let their child in the dark, then what makes you think they care enough to make the right decision regarding abortion ?

As long as a teenager is required to get her parents' permission to get a tattoo, her ears pierced, a tylenol at school, or into an R-rated movie, then she should also be required to get parental consent before a major invasive surgical procedure. A teenager is a minor and, as such, is legally the ward of her parents.
By the way, Planned Parenthood and the NEA have lobbied long and hard to make sure that teenage girls know exactly what they are doing when they have sex. Furthermore, research has shown that it is not the "Christian parents" who are to blame. It is the current culture: http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/118/2/e430?submit.y=12&submit.x=97&gca=118%2F2%2Fe430&

Thats a tough question. While I definitely think that the parents should have a say in the matter, the ultimate decision should be left to the girl. But again that raises the question is someone in their teens capable of having the capacity to understand how important that decision is, and would it have future ramafications for that girl if she chose to have an abortion?

I think that teenage girls should ask their parents consent before having sex,but thats just my opinion.
**Special to Technotron** How dare you try to place blame on parents. You obviously do not have children, and therefore you have not walked in a parents shoes. Before you knock it, try it son.
If you want to start pointing fingers, point them at the television, the computer, high prices and demanding children who force both parents to work, and last but not least the teenagers themselves who are too busy texting in school to learn anything.

No, it was their decision to have sex, not their parents'. Parents should not be able to force their teenage daughters to have abortions! that is wrong!
