You know those rub on sticker transfers? Well, is it possible to make your own - or to better rephrase my question, do you know of any companies (like epson or avery) that sell that rub on paper?

There is a site online that sells inkjet printable rub-on paper. It's not cheap.

You can also make your own faux "rub ons"...here's how, and it really does work (I've done it many, many times).

1. Print desired image onto plain transparency film (made for laser or copiers). You can use transparency for inkjet printers...but you must print on the SMOOTH side (NOT the textured side).

2. If you're going to make word rub-ons, you need to print the words backwards.

3. After printing, let the transparency sit for 10-15 minutes to set/dry. If you don't let it sit, it will be all smeary.

4. Place the printed transparency face down onto whatever you want to put your rub-on...and use a popsicle stick or handle of a spoon to rub the back of the transparency firmly. (needs to be a porous surface like cardstock).

5. Gently lift off transparency and check to see if image is transfering...if not, place it back down and rub some more.

This creates the look of a rub-on. The only color that won't work is white/cream. The effect is not as opaque as regular rub-ons.

Xyron makes sticker maker machines and they are available at WalMart and craft stores locally. For the one inch wide type, around ten dollars, you drop in a photo, letter or design, pull through and the back is sticky. They have a page size sticker maker too.
