No. She most definitely did not. I think this video illustrated an incident of misuse of force by a police officer. We did not see what happened before it was taken, but it says that this was a "routine traffic stop".
This woman was being defiant, surly. But violent? No. Did she reach for a weapon? No. Did she try to evade or bust out on the officers? No. She could have been calling her lawyer. She could have felt threatened by the manner in which the officers pulled her over and wanted to be on her cell phone for her own safety. Or, maybe she has a mental disorder that causes paranoia, and this is the first time she has left her house in over 15 years. Or maybe she's just a dumb b***h.
What ever the case may be, the point is that she did absolutely nothing to threaten the officers, so why did they find it necessary to use force against her. This is a 22 year old woman. I have a hard time believing that the only way the officers could get the woman to comply with their demands was to tase her. Give me a break. It's a basic rule of law enforcement, and I do not think that it was followed in this case. You do not use force against a citizen unless absolutely necessary. Period.
Oh, well... she didn't have any lasting harm so that's O.K. right? No! This woman was writhing in pain and screaming as if she was actually in terrible pain. Would you want to be electrocuted and completely incapacitated by a taser? Have you ever been a defiant youth? Has your daughter? Or your mother? How would you feel if this had happened to someone in your family just for calling you? She will remember and fear this incident for the rest of her life.
Protect and serve? What is this country coming to if any American who is disobedient to a authority figure for ANY reason... can be violently harmed at their will. This is an infringement of each and all of our human RIGHTS. The officers should be brought to justice, and all of us need to make sure that it happens.

People make a big deal about Tasers because the concept is intimidating. The reality is quite different. Taser had a booth at the 2006 Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas - anyone who stopped by could volunteer to be tasered. Anyone who did it got a free hat. Apparently, the event hall crew were taking turns with the taser to see who could endure it longest.
Overall tasers are much safer than other non-lethal forms of control and if it teaches people to listen to police officers I'm all for it.

Crazy! Why didn't the girl just get out of the car? Pretty ballsy if you ask me.
Then again, why did the officer feel the need to use brute force over a "normal" traffic violation?" Couldn't he have just written her the ticket while she was comfortably seated in the car?
What was most alarming was the officer's causal attitude while shooting the taser - almost as if tasering people is just an everyday thing, like he was merely testing it out on a sack of potatoes!
My advice? Do what the cops say so that don't open a can of whoop-a** on your sorry butt.

Why didn't she just do what the officer told her to do? It was a reasonable request. If people would just do what a police officer asks, they wouldn't even have to make the decision to use their taser or not. I think tasers are a great idea because it saves the police from having to get close enough to beat the crap out of someone who probably deserves it and having to justify using their gun.
I guess what I am trying to say is "yes"

Here's the problem with asking the question of the officers actions being right or wrong: We have no idea what he found out when he ran her plate before the stop. Suppose there was a warrant out for her arrest for assaulting a police officer? Or something even worse.
The Officer told her to get out several times and clearly warned her he was going to taser her if she did not get out. If she would have followed his instructions it wouldn't have happened.

Yes, they did the right thing!
When I was in the military, we trained w/ tasers... I have been hit with it. 50,000 volts, three times!
Maybe if the cop put a 9mm round thru her knee, she would have been less likely to resist arrest! If you scroll down on that page, you can watch five different clips of what happened... The dumb @ss should be glad that he didn't shot her for real!

Wait, we don't know what happened prior to the woman being pulled over. We do know that the police officer gave her a command that she refused. The woman's refusal to put down the phone and step out of the car is a form of resisting arrest.

Tasers are the wave of the future and should be used cautiously until more data has been researched on their uses & results.
