This is almost unbelievable. Czech were in 3rd, Netherlands in 2nd, Mexico 4th and USA 5th. But now - Czech is 10th, Netherlands 6th, Mexico 18th and USA 16th.

How about Ghana moving from 48th to be placed at 25th. I think it's the greatest achievement for the country.

This is TOTALLY opinionated.
Before the World Cup it seemed as if the rankings were completely absurd and biased. Italy 13th? Probably because of the bad news coming out o fthe country that has nothing to do with their talent. USA 5th tied with Spain? Spain's reserves could beat the USA with their eyes tied behind their back. The Czech anywhere near the top 5? They do boast the talents of Petr Cech and Koller, but who else? They didnt even make the elimination round. Ghana and the Ukraine also showed how utterly wrong those old rankings were. Brazil as number one seems to be the only ranking that has been consistently correct.

But after the World Cup it seems as if they are finally getting things right and have created a much more accurate ranking. (Though having Mexico, Ghana, Ecuador and the Ukraine behind the U.S is just WRONG)

There will be some change but not necessarily the way that most people think. The ranking system rewards playing (which is why countries like England improved in May due to playing and winning some "friendlies"). The only teams that will probably drop in the rankings (in terms of points) as a result of playing in the tournament are France, Austria, Poland, and Greece. In terms of their place in the rankings, I would expect Portugal, the Netherlands, and Romania to move ahead of England and Greece. (Cameroon and Mexico might also move ahead of England and Greece and Cameroon might pass Romania.) The Czech Republic will probably stay in sixth. Croatia should pass Mexico, but it will be close. Turkey may pass Columbia. Russia should pass Israel but might need to make the finals to pass Egypt. Between Germany, Spain, and Italy, Germany might pass Spain if Germany wins Euro 2008 and Spain loses in the semi-finals. I think the winner will be close to but not ahead of Italy as there are just too many points between Italy and Spain, and Italy will gain points merely by Euro 2008 being the current year (as opposed to the points from Euro 2004 being reduced by four years) and by doing better in Euro 2008 than they did in Euro 2004.

I've definitely noticed, since my country (Argentina) moved from 9th place to 3rd! I think the new rankings are much more accurate (though still not perfect, but what can you do?).

Now, they just consider the last four years - before it was eight - of international competition! Just more to the point this way. Great move, i think. Makes really sense, this idea!
