construction work is going on across the road from my house and, at times, on the road itself for at least a year now. my car, which is parked on the driveway, collects a layer of dust every single day. so to keep my car clean, i either bring it to the car wash or spend my own precious time washing it. can i get monetary compensation from the construction company, the city, anybody?

No way you can SUE. Buy a car cover. You are the type of person that moves next to an airport and bitches about the noise!

Let's see...you know there's going to be a layer of construction dust settling on your car every day, and you still park it in the same place - possibly expecting the dust to miss your car that day?
I'd recommend either parking the car elsewhere - a garage, perhaps? - or putting a tarp over it when you park.

Find out who the construction company is, and complain to the owner, or next higher up about your problem. You may have no luck if you live in a sparsely populated or rural area, but I know that when dust is being kicked and blown around regularly beyond a projects boundaries, they are required to bring in a water truck to keep it damp and from blowing everywhere.

It's already a sue happy country. Just park somewhere else if possible. Ask them (the constrution crew) when the work will be done cause car car is always getting alot of dirt on it. Try to live with it for now I guess. Sorry for your time and money

just go wash your car and get over it. I work in construction, if it is just dust most of it will blow off your car when you drive it. Now if it is hurting the finish or if you get a flat caused by them, then they are responsible.

I understand your frustration. Contact your city hall and ask to speak with the code enforcement department. They can give you suggesstions. At the very least, the company can provide a car cover for your vehicle.

dirty no, damage to the paint finish, yes. as long as you have a new car that will really show the damage. Then you can take the estimate to fix it to the construction company, take em to court if they do not pay and stop further damaging the car

Um...you can sue for pretty much anything...but is it worth your time? just buy a car cover and cover the car up so it won't get dirty...or just by a mirco fiber cloth and whipe it down and some quick detailing spray...

Or you could invest in a cover for the car, and stop whining. It's just a little dirt. Frivolous litigation chokes our legal system.
