1st rinse it completly clean so no residue is left from any solvents etc. 2n d apply a good grade of auto wax meguires. make sure to cover the surface, let dry to a haze then buff with power buffer. you may have to give it two coats of wax, but that should get it back to close to normal condition.

You don't need to power buff or to get a pro involved. Look in the yellow pages for a local stone fabricator. Call and ask if they sell customer care products. There are a couple different brands, but if you explain your problem, they'll sell you a bottle of something that will bring the finish right back.

it probably will need to be repolished. I believe that would take a power polishing tool and special polishing rouge.

Contact a custom stone fabricator, they can probably do it for you or sell/rent what you need.

A cheaper alternative might be to put a clear finish on the table, like verathane.

get a really nice smooth surface on it and then varnish it with your favorite varnish. you may have to repeat it 3 to 4 times depending on how old the wood is, or how well you varnished it.

contact a company that sells/installs marble countertops. they may be able to give you some advice.
