Just had a friend spend his summer there... said it was awesome. You'll not meet nicer people, and you'll learn some things you didn't know before. This is a very dog-friendly country... wait to you see how they pamper them at restaurants and grocery stores. Can't beat the weather... very nice! Enjoy your holiday.

Spain is a very nice place. Its packed with some awesome history and culture. Keep in mind that Spain was occupied for several hundred years by Muslims. So the architecture changes as you travel north and south in the country. You'll see its contrast between Barcelona and say Valencia or San Sebastian and Granada. It has great red wine called Rioja, try it with Manchego cheese, a real treat! See a bull fight! The night life is great, boy they can party to the early morning hours, my kind of town. Try a ham called pata negra(black leg), get that with tapas. You can buy leather real cheap, like a leather jacket, or shoes! Well, let me not spoil it, hope you have fun. The people are great!
