When we see a "ghost" what are we actually seeing? is it something that physically exists, is it our imagination, is it a telepathic image, or is it something else?
Answers on a postcard too.....

Firstly you are making the assumption that we do actually see ghosts. Whether or not a ghost is a physical entity, a telepathic manifestation of emotions or an over-active imagination depends entirely on the person experiencing the "apparition".
For example, someone who has recently lost a loved one may "see" their ghost - this is probably due to an emotional projection of sorts. A deep-seated longing to see the person who has passed may cause them to believe they are seeing something that just isn't there.
Surely the question here is not "what do we see", but "is there anything to see at all" ?

There is evidence that ghosts physically exists but I believe they are images seen only by a selected few. I don't have a full understanding of telepathic images and the depth of feeling someone may experience during this but it often relates to forms of seizure and this may be an alternative explanation. I am not fully convinced.

well 9 times out of 10 when people report seeing a ghost it is thier imagination, but "real" ghost have been captured on film,video,audio etc so if they didn't exist they wouldn't show up on electronic mediums. I didn't believe in Ghosts til labout 2 years ago when I was working for a local TV station doing news video taping, We did a story on a local school that was supposedly haunted so one of the news casters and I went to the place to do a story for Halloween. While he was interviewing the lady who lived in the building ( it's a B&B now) I saw throught the cameras view finder a figure of a man in overalls forming right behind her. Neither one of them saw or heard anything until I showed hem the tape afterwards. So after that I say that yes they are real.

In 1983, I actually saw a ghost in the village of Great Bowden in Leicestershire, and the best part about it was that I wasn't the only one to see it. My friend Duncan saw it too. Since then, I've had many occasions that I've felt things - specifically in my last car, a Ford Fiesta, where I often felt somebody in the back seat (you know how you can feel someone's knees if they're in the seat behind you), and usually when I was alone. I don't get it so much in my current car, a Mazda 2, as it's bigger, I think. So, for me, yes ghosts do exist, and they can be very visible indeed.

It's all in the head. If ghosts did exist, you wouldn't be able to see them because they are just spirts. Think about it, a spirit wouldn't have the shape of a body, it wouldnt have a head, arms ,legs, etc.. Because it has already left the human body so how is it gonna look like a human? People are able to comunicate with spirits but the only way is if you close your eyes in your head. So no I think it's just something they invented , something else for people to believe in and to freak people out.

I wish I could give you an answer that could be proved. There have been stories of ghosts for nearly as long as there have been stories. The ancient Greeks told stories of ghosts. I've never seen a ghost, but I have had a couple of odd occurrences. Not sure what they are, but when I tell them to others, I usually give them a "ghost story" slant. Makes them sound cool, anyway.

Ghosts "haunt", but spirits "visit".
Sometimes when it's a haunting and there are certain pre-existing conditions, you may see
or hear a ghost or ghosts re-enacting past events.
Those type of hauntings are nothing more than a sort of projection of past occurrences that may repeat themselves over and over again under certain circumstances.

Personally, I think ghosts are a persons energy that is lingering here for some purpose. I think that some people are more sensitive to this energy and are able to see more than others, therefore some can even talk to them.

Well sometimes its your imigination.
some people think they see ghosts but its really just a shadow or reflection.Lots of people believe ing ghosts.If you do believe in ghosts you might have the feeling of a presence.I dont know if I believe in ghosts.I'll just have to go to Waverly Hills Sanatorium and find out.lol.
