Isn't that discrimination? Didn't they put the indians there, too?

it's true.. it's called Laurent, South Dakota.. named after Laurent Clerc. it's not just Deaf-only, it's for hearing people who sign fluently and have a love for Deaf culture and heritage. i wouldn't even think you have to sign fluently, though... Deaf people are appreciative of the hearing people who TRY to understand and appreciate their culture.

and NO, it's not discrimination... they never said other people weren't welcome there.. they've just created a central community for the Deaf.. Deaf mayor, Deaf postmaster, Deaf pharmacist... you name it. anyone is welcome... you just have to want to understand the heritage of the Deaf, love their language and appreciate their culture.

Hi I actually live about 60 miles away from where they're building Laurent (not sure if spelling is right). I'm not sure about the first question, but Laurent is the idea of a deaf man and his mother. It seems to have alot of support from the deaf population. It's also not just for the deaf-it's for anyone who signs.
As for Indian rezs, that is a very messy can of worms. Do research and make your own opinion because it's hard not to be discriminatory if you choose either of the two "sides".
