Wow that is deep. You are not alone in thinking this is strange. Your question is making me think right now. I suppose it has to deal with society's morals and values along with public pressure. I assume if the public were to band together and say that 15 year olds should not be tried as adults period, then they would not be. But i suppose when they commit murder it prevents adults from using them as pawns to commit their crimes. This is the same case when it comes to sex- the intention is to protect the youth with stringent laws. When the laws make me the most confused/ upset is when a teenage couple gets sexually involved but one is slightly older than the other; then the parents notify the authorities and the elder is taken to jail and tried for sexual assault. They had sex when they were 17 and 17, but 17 and 18 is against the law? [depending on where you live]

There is a bit of a double standard, but my theory is this: For most things, minors are considered to be incapable of making smaker decisions. Obviously, not all minors are so incapable and not all adults are capable. Anyways, it is probably assumed that, by a certain age, a child has been taught certain rights and wrongs. A 15 year old kid is assumed to have been taught that killing another person is wrong, but may not have been taught all about the birds and the bees. I've noticed that whenever a 6-year-old has killed another person, either on purpose or on accident, they are not tried as an adult. I think it all depends on the particular judge's perception of what the minor should know and should have been taught.

I don't think that is how it is in my state. I think if a 15 year old murders someone they can be tried as an adult, or not. In some states, being 15 and having sex is ok legally. In Iowa and S. Carolina females can be 14 and have sex.
I think it also have to do a lot with the lawyer that you have. If you have a good lawer and a lot of cash, you can pretty much get away with anything.

Depends what state, depends what country. Legal age for sex varies from one place to the next. So does the age business where heavy duty crime is concerned. Killing is the ultimate insult. But "time" (in years) or whatever, is not the same when you're 15 and when you're 40 or 80. Things are looked at differently. All sorts of factors come in before applying a sentence. It is not a simple issue.

Come on... that is just totally two different things, Sex and murder are two totally different things here, having sex (UNLESS IT IS RAPE) it is mutual, now murder you really don't have a choice there no do u... and someone that opts to kill well they should be tried as an adult unless they are proven to be insane then they need to spend the rest of their lives locked up in a loony bin.

Well, one is only a crime if they are having sex with someone who is NOT a minor. The second one is a crime no matter the age.

would you want a murderer free to go on doing their thing?
would you be worried for yourself and for those you care for?
I am not talking about a murder committed in self defense or some kid who is tired of seeing his mom get the crap beat out of her.

It takes alot more effort (and psychotic tendencies) to kill someone compared to having sex with someone...seems obvious to me.
