Am I wrong for feeling that I should be the sole beneficiary on my husbands life insurance policy? He has me down for 65 percent and his mother down for 35.

Also...it's not just me and him, we have 1 child here and i am 7 months pregnant. We also have no house of our own and need a newer car.

And she also has 2 other children...that are both grown with no families (spouses or children)...or other major responsibilities.

It depends. Does his mother have a good financial plan already in place? It seems to me he's just being responsible and wants to make sure both the women he loves are taken care of in the event something happens to him.

You really should talk to him. There may be some circumstances that would make him want to take care of his mother. Maybe he is worried that none of his siblings are going to take care of her if something happens to him. Depending on the amount of his insurance policy, he may have put aside how much he thinks she would need. If she doesn't have a retirement or savings, she could be all alone if something happened to her. If you are concerned, talk to him and ask him that it be a more reasonable amount. Considering he has children, those are his first priority, then you (if he is the sole breadwinner), then his mom. Maybe 20-25% sounds more reasonable. You can also request that an addendum be made that her money has to go into a trust fund specifically for her medical/caretaker needs as she gets older and that in the case of her death the money goes to you, not to her estate (from which his siblings would get it, being sole heirs). Maybe he hasn't thought it through. Just talk to him.

why cant his mommy have something? She bore him and raised him and put up with him! That woman deserves something from her son. I think thats awfully nice of him to think of giving his mom something since if something were to happen to him he wouldnt be around to put her in the ground. Besides, you can always kill him off once she dies so you can get the whole amount!

Yea, your wrong. Guess your one of those obsessive type woman though....everything must be yours. You can't share anything at all. Sure it's only his mom though...the woman who gave birth to him and raised him for 20 years...and your a flaky girl he met just a couple of years ago and have sex with......

I'd let this one go..
