Yeah. Figure out real quick whether you want to "Fit In" or "Stand out". Then exhibit the right behavior.

I am in my last yr of high skool and I think I can give u some tips!
Academics - do ur best! But don't study too much, others will call u a nerd. I am one, but I am proud to be 1, actually. Even if u make some failures, don't give up! U can learn from ur mistakes. Then the usual, respect ur teachers, complete projects on time, blah, blah..
Social - Making friends is a hard job and it takes time. Just take it slow, and talk and be open. When making friends, look who are like you, have the same hobbies and stuff! It's better to keep a small close grp...deepens relationships.

Social tips: Don't act like you own the place. Don't try too hard to fit in with people, if they don't accept you then do your own thing. Be school spirited, I know at our school the freshmen get called out a lot because they don't participate. Act a little more mature than you would have last year, chasing people around isn't too cool anymore. Try to stick with the people you know
Academic tips: Don't stress out. Don't slack too much. Definitely ask questions if you don't get it but not too many because you can be seen as annoying or dumb. Just try your hardest.
Everyone's experiences are different but in the end, it's what you make it. To me and most of the kids at my school, freshman year was the best. Good luck!

Dont' join every club, Don't act like your not worried about next 3 years, don't be a Saturday Night Fever wanna be and just BE YOURSELF IN STUDIES AND WITH PEOPLE! YOu can't go wrong, and let those other fakes do their fake thing, they all get found out anyway, and you'll be way ahead of the game. Believe me, I did the I'm too cool to be scared and all it did was get me beat up! plus I missed a couple cool field excursions which would have helped me in chemistry classes later on. Take the classes you feel comfortable in and throw in one tuff one, then next term add another one. But stay comfortable, yet advancing. It will keep it interesting and you'll learn alot more than the simple easy classes all the time. When SATs comes along, you'll be that much more ready and knowledgable.

Don't be nosy and don't try too hard. Just be yourself and fix any personality flaws that might tick people off.
On top of all of that, get stellar grades.
