I have a baby and two small dogs so I need ideas that are non-toxic. The neighbors have a box elder tree.

I had the same problem a few months ago ago. Live in TN. Asked an "Old Timer". Tested it too. I had MILLIONS of them all over the outside of my houe. Get a spray bottle and put Dawn dish soap and water. (recommend add soap to the water). Spray fairly direct stream, working toward ground. Had to do it about three days in a row, HAVE NOT seen a one since. I have a dog as well. KH

Frankly, these insects will cause no harm to you or your family. As long as the box elder tree is there you will see the boox elder bug. Even when there is no BE tree around, you can still have them, beginning at this very time of year. Relax. If they are in the house you can vacuum them up. Otherwise, try and ignore them as once it frosts (in about 6 weeks or so) they will all but disappear. Again, they cause no harm to humans or animals.
