Hi. I am a con dealer in the Midwest. Here's the correct answer. What you have is an 1878 Morgan Dollar. Depending on the exact condition and the mintmark it can range anywhere from around $10 for a common used piece to $200 for an uncirculated piece with the right mintmark. The best is the "CC" (Carson City) mintmark. I suggest taking it to your local coin dealer to have it evaluated...and whatever you do, DON'T try to clean or polish the coin; you will reduce or ruin its value.
