I want to buy a scooter to save gas and they look like fun.
But I'am very concerned about my saftey on the road. So being scared is holding me back from buying one. I only work 3 miles from home and so I don't have to take the highway.
So can anyone tell me why I should"nt be scared to drive one.
And if I do any helpfull tips on driving safley.

I have to second the recommendation to take the MSF's Basic Rider Course. If you are getting a scooter over 50 cc's, in most states you will need a motorcycle license to ride it anyway, and you will benefit from motorcycle safety lessons.

Scooters may not be true motorcycles, but you're just as vulnerable on one as you are on a small motorcycle. I would recommend wearing the same sort of gear that I take on my bike - helmet, armored riding clothes, gloves, and boots. You'll feel a lot more confident wearing the gear - at least I do. And keep a very close eye out for traffic.

If you're worried about your image, you could get a bumper sticker that says "I get 100 miles to the gallon. Who's laughing now?" :)

It's not good to be scared. However, you are taking a risk. There are risks in riding a scooter, motorcycle, or taking a shower. Seriously, did you know that the shower is the most common place in the house for traumatic brain injuries? I certainly hope people do not stop taking showers because of the fear.
Back to the scooter, of course there are risks. There are also ways to reduce the risks. I suggest contacting your local motorcycle or scooter dealer and inquire about the safety classes in your community.

Scooters are a great alternative to cars. Just wear high visibilty clothing and maybe some of those reflective strips. Maybe you may not be the coolest guy on the street but when pay day comes around you will be keeping more of your money instead of giving it to the oil companies. This means you can spend more on other more important things

you'll want to bypass a CBT (compulsive straightforward coaching) in the previous you could bypass out on the line as a learner driving force. it truly is a straightforward coaching course to make confident you could journey competently on the line. the cost is approx £100. in case you've not handed your driving try interior 2 years you'll want to do yet another CBT because the certificate is in straightforward words valid for 2 years. also you could't get insurance without this certificate. I actually have a Honda S Wing one hundred twenty 5 and love being out on it. Scooters are very low-cost to run and highway tax is in straightforward words £15 in accordance to three hundred and sixty 5 days. reliable success

Scooters are very cool in Europe and are fast becoming that way in the US (chicks dig them, by the way).

Take the Basic Riders Course . Riding is a skill that can be learned as is safety.

For me, going places in my truck is scarier than riding my motorcycle.
